3 Ways to Treat Yourself This Winter at Sunshine Village

This alpine resort offers indulgent accommodations to complement its world-class snow-sport activities.

Think Sunshine Village is just about the skiing and snowboarding? Not so. Visit Sunshine Village to relax, rejuvenate as well as having a whole lot of alpine recreational fun in the Rockies. Sunshine Mountain Lodge rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, cozy fireplaces and delectable dining options.

Cheers! Beer glasses clink as friends reminisce about an incredible day riding the fluffy powder snow at Banff’s Sunshine Village. In the Chimney Corner Lounge located in the ski-in, ski-out Sunshine Mountain Lodge, any number of groups will be engaged in similar conversations about their amazing day spent in the majestic Rocky Mountains.

After a soak in the area’s largest hot tub, a delectable dinner will be shared in the newly renovated Eagle’s Nest Canadian Bistro featuring a variety of menu items supplied by local Alberta farms. Chef Kelly Yarrow and his team have updated the menu featuring dishes such as macadamia and Dijon crusted rack of lamb accompanied by seasonal vegetables and the must-try truffle garlic mashed potatoes. Pair your dinner with a bottle of B.C. Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon, and because you worked so hard, finish the meal with a honeycomb parfait-you won’t regret it.

Once you’ve finished dinner, perhaps pints are in order at Mad Trapper’s Smokehouse. Featuring Canadian beers on tap, and on some nights, a very energetic dance floor, it’s a must visit. On your way outside, look up, and you might be lucky enough to see the incredible aurora borealis (northern lights).

As you lay your head on your pillow and drift off dreaming of powdery snow pockets, the fresh, mountain air will ensure that you have a peaceful, uninterrupted sleep filled with powder dreams.

The beauty of staying at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge is you can sleep in, have a hearty breakfast and be on the slopes before most people have even parked their car.

Here are some further tips to help you take full indulgent advantage of your stay.

1. Get right to the fun

Check in at the base of the resort, drop off your luggage and head up the gondola to your hotel in the sky at over 2,195 metres (7,200 feet). Ski for the day, and your bags will be waiting for you in the room when you’re done.

2. Keep your skis at the ready

Store your skis or snowboard in the handy ski storage room located just steps from your room in your very own locker, and don’t worry about them until you’re ready to shred some fresh turns in the morning.

3. Ski straight to your room

Book rooms 106 to 113, and ski or ride straight to your balcony. Your premiere room also features a big-screen TV, soaker tub, fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows and a spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains.
