Started in 2021 by Alberta University of the Arts alumni Ben Rankel and Lexi Hunt, Dork Matters focuses on all things “dorky” in pop culture and beyond. With topics ranging from Pokémon and Final Fantasy to professional wrestling and ghost stories, Rankel and Hunt are passionate storytellers who love sharing their interests and hobbies through the podcast. There’s even an episode where the pair play a game of Dungeons & Dragons during the show. The show recently earned a 2023 Canadian Podcast Awards nomination in the Outstanding Leisure Series category. Outside of the podcast, Rankel is currently a stay-at-home parent working on creative projects related to middle-grade fiction, while Hunt is an artist and educator with an art portfolio of illustration work and another podcast, Art Intervention.
