Avenue‘s Top 40 Under 40 celebration is right around the corner. Avenue and its parent company RedPoint Media are thrilled to reveal the Top 40 Under 40 class of 2024 in Avenue’s November/December issue and online on October 30th. We’ve also planned a party to honour and celebrate the class of 2024 and Top 40 alumni.
Tickets are available online while quantities last.
Here are six reasons why you should attend the party on October 30th at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
Network with Influential Calgarians
The Top 40 Under 40 project receives nominations from professionals in pretty much every industry — arts, academia, business, tech, energy, medicine, community-building, the non-profit sector and more. The selected Top 40s are the people moving their industries and the city forward. That means the annual celebration is attended by hundreds of engaged Calgarians from a diverse range of backgrounds, professions and associations, which makes for an amazing networking opportunity with the city’s top movers and shakers.
Listen to Great Local Music
There will be no shortage of local talent at this event, and that includes three musical acts that will perform throughout the night. The Russell Broom Memorial Orchestra, a lively, local band headed up by musician and producer Russell Broom (who has worked with Jann Arden, Art Bergman and other Canadian country and rock legends), is the onstage house band during the awards presentation. Local artist Kenna Burima (Top 40 Class of 2015) will perform a special set of the favourite songs of this year’s Top 40s, while Rick Climan’s Trio will play for the VIPs during their reception.
Snack and Sip on Delicious Food and Drink Options
It’s no secret that many Avenue readers are foodies, and this year’s attendees will be pleased to enjoy catering by local restaurant group Concorde Entertainment Group, which owns and operates popular restaurants like Major Tom, Bridgette Bar, Barbarella, Pigeonhole and more. Concorde is operated by a few Top 40 alumni including Victor Choy, who was part of the very first Top 40 class, and corporate executive chef JP Pedhirney (Top 40 Class of 2022). Menu highlights include sushi, cheese gougeres, beef tartare, avocado toast, cheese and vegetable platters, tarts, macarons and more.
Some of the Top 40 sponsors, including the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and connectFirst Credit Union, are inviting attendees to connect and enjoy even more edible treats both before and after the mainstage presentation.

New and Exclusive Opportunities for Avenue A-Listers
The Avenue A-List is more than a membership program — it’s your passport to the extraordinary, and the A-List Backstage Henry of Pelham Cuvée Catharine Lounge Experience at Top 40 is no exception. Avenue A-List members have the exclusive opportunity to take part in the A-List Backstage Experience. This includes VIP tickets to the event featuring a more intimate gathering with the Top 40s and their guests, as well as sponsors. The exclusive A-List experience also includes access to the backstage Henry of Pelham Cuvée Catharine Lounge with private catering from Brie & Banquet, and the opportunity to tour the backstage area, meet the band and emcees, and see the Jubilee from the main stage.
Celebrate the City
One of the most distinctive aspects of Calgary is that we love to celebrate each others’ successes. While other cities might suffer from “tall poppy syndrome” where people cut down anyone who sticks their head above the pack, here we believe that success leads to more success. The Top 40 party is one of the greatest examples of that philosophy come to life for one fantastic night. Top 40 isn’t just about the 40 people on the list — it’s about a city that lifts people up, and in doing so, makes all of our lives better. And by buying a ticket to the Top 40 party, you help Avenue keep that momentum going so we can continue highlighting those who are moving the city forward.
