How to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Calgary

This year, celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with brunch at The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, Celtic music and, of course, by drinking green beer at local pubs.

St. Patrick’s Day is back on March 17, and while there will be the typical pub deals and celebrations around the city, finding something to do outside of visiting a bar can be a bit harder. From Celtic music to Irish beer and whiskey tastings, here are a few events happening in Calgary that will take your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations to the next level.

 

Shamrocks & Shenanigans at Heritage Park

Presented by the Ireland Alberta Trade Association, Shamrocks & Shenanigans on March 17 features Calgary Celtic band Cabot’s Crossing, as well as Irish food and drinks. Enjoy this night of dancing and fun at the Gasoline Alley Museum to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year. Tickets are $65 and include food, with a cash bar available all night.

St. Paddy’s Day Beer and Whiskey Tasting at Co-op Wines Spirits Beer

Co-op Wines Spirits Beer is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with beer and whiskey tasting events at its Beddington and Oakridge locations on March 17. From 7 to 9 p.m., you will get to taste different Irish beers and whiskeys from a range of spots like the famous Guinness brewery and Cork distilleries. Tickets are $35.

All Things Irish Festival at Willow Park Wines & Spirits

On March 17, Willow Park Wines & Spirits invites you to enjoy a night of Irish beers and spirits. This night celebrating all things Irish will let you experience Irish exports beyond the typical pint of Guinness, all accompanied by foods to pair with the beverages. Tickets for the event are $40 and it runs from 7 to 9 p.m.

St. Patrick’s Day-Themed Brunch at The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is turning its weekly Safari Sunday Brunch experience into a St. Patrick’s Day-themed brunch on March 19. The menu will feature Irish dishes like Guinness-braised lamb stew and green-themed foods and desserts, along with classic brunch favourites like Belgian waffles and eggs Benedict. Tickets are $28.95 for children and $47.95 for adults, which includes admission to the zoo grounds.
