Say goodbye to sitting on the couch and hello to a new events calendar that will help you turn any boring day into an adventure.

The Scene’s new events calendar, created in collaboration with Tourism Calgary, Calgary Downtown Strategy and Calgary Arts Development, has officially launched. Rather than spending hours scrolling through websites and social media to find something to do, the events calendar offers a single place to find events in Calgary.

“We would hear people say there’s nothing to do, and the reality is … there were different websites that were highlighting various things to do, but not in a consolidated way,” said Tourism Calgary president and CEO Alisha Reynolds at Tourism Calgary’s annual general meeting.

Tourism Calgary, Calgary Downtown Strategy, Calgary Arts Development and RedPoint Media Group each host its own calendar, curated for its target audience.

“We’ve created one shared ecosystem, powered by AI and vetted through our partners at RedPoint Media that is going to put everything together in one place,” says Reynolds.

The goal of the collaboration is to keep Calgarians informed of events by working together. By maintaining four event calendars, this ensures everyone sees the events they want to see just by visiting sites they already visit.

The Scene calendar utilizes the human-powered, AI-enabled Seeker Event Network to pull events from hundreds of online sources, which are then curated by The Scene’s editorial team, so you stay connected to what’s happening in Calgary.

All four event calendars in the collaboration accept submissions from the public. These submissions are reviewed by The Scene editorial staff. Once approved, events enter the shared database and may appear on any of the calendars in the partnership, so event organizers only need to submit once.
