Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches and Fried Chicken Steam Buns

Those are two of the five things on our radar to eat this month.

Calgary’s food scene is constantly changing, and it seems like there’s always a new menu item, limited release or special treat to try. Here are five dishes and drinks we’re excited to try this month.

Single Malt Whisky from Eau Claire Distillery

Eau Claire Distillery’s first single malt whisky is finally ready after three years of aging. Unsurprisingly, the first batch sold out quickly, so you’ll have to make your way to the distillery’s tasting room to sample it. Tastings are available in one and two ounce drams.

Eau Claire Distillery, 113 Sunset Blvd. N.W., Turner Valley, 403-933-5408, eauclairedistillery.ca

A Charcuterie Board from Empire Provisions

Empire Provision’s charcuterie boards are the perfect snack, whether you’re dining in at the deli and eatery or getting a takeaway board for some home entertaining. The next time you visit, consider ordering the sweet meat mini board with three meats for $20.

8409 Elbow Dr. S.W., 403-244-0570, empireprovisions.com

Sweet ‘N’ Sour Fried Shrimp Tacos from Gringo Street

Mark our words, the tacos at the newly opened Gringo Street are going to become fast favourites. While flavours range from smoked mushroom to chicken wing to roast pork shoulder, we’re particularly excited to try the sweet ‘n’ sour fried shrimp tacos.

102, 524 17 Ave. S.W., 403-452-1211, gringost.com

Churro Ice Cream Sandwich from Made by Marcus

A scoop of Made by Marcus ice cream sandwiched between two housemade churro spirals. Need we say more?

121, 1013 17 Ave. S.W., madebymarcus.ca

Fried Chicken Steam Buns at Two Penny Chinese

Two Penny Chinese has launched a new weekday lunch menu, and we’ve got our eye on these fried chicken steam buns. Available for only $14, expect saucy fried chicken served with pickles, lettuce and mayo.

1213 1 St. S.W., 403-474-7766, twopenny.ca
