Spring Art and Craft Markets In and Around Calgary

The spring craft market season has begun. These are the various art and craft markets to know about from April through to mid-June.

Market Collective runs from April 27 to 29 at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre.

Make It Calgary

This is a big craft market. Make It! has a few shows across Western Canada but it stops in Calgary on the first weekend of April. More than 175 vendors will be selling handcrafted items during the weekend. A few of the vendors you can expect to see selling items this weekend include Béton Brut, Clay Creations Studio, Laughing Sparrow, Maple and Oak Designs, Rayna Dog Collars and more. Be sure to check out the food trucks and beer garden as well.

When: April 6 to 8, 2018

Where: Big Four Building, Stampede Park, 1801 Big Four Tr. S.E.

Cost: $6 at the door


Tibetan Spring Bazaar

The Tibetan Association of Alberta hosts its annual spring market on April 7. Attendees can purchase a range of authentic Tibetan items at the one-day market including carpets, shawls, crafts and more.

Curated Spring Market

If you're looking for handmade and curated items, you'll find plenty of options here. This edition of the Curated market will feature 70 vendors offering everything from greeting cards to terrariums to baby clothes. Live entertainment and food trucks complete the shopping experience.

When: April 13 and 14, 2018
Where: Bowness Community Association, 7904 43 Ave. N.W.

Calgary Creative Arts Guild Annual Spring Show & Sale

Check out artwork by more than 25 members of the Calgary Creative Arts Guild at this spring sale. There will also be refreshments, door prizes and a raffle draw. 

When: April 14, 2018
Where: Montgomery Community Centre, 5003 16 Ave. N.W.

Ujamaa Grandmas Fabric and Yarn Sale

This market is for all the knitters and sewers out there. Find different fabrics, yarns, patterns, knitting needles and other items for your fibre crafting projects at this annual fabric and yarn Sale. The proceeds from this sale support the Stephen Lewis Foundation. 

When: April 20 to 21, 2018

Beacon Original Art Spring Art Exhibition & Sale

Artwork by more than 25 Alberta artists will be available for purchase at this spring art market. Expect to find everything from painting and photography to ceramics and textiles. 

When: April 21, 2018
Where: Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association, 917 Centre Ave. N.E.
Cost: Free admission


Fibre Shindig

At Fibre Shindig, 36 vendors offer a selection of fibre materials that you can use for your own artistic creations — think fibre, hand-dyed yarn, knitwear patterns and fibre tools. Finished products by local makers and artists are also featured, including handmade fibre toys, jewellery, bags, yarn bowls and more.

When: April 21, 2018
Where: Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Centre
Cost: $5 admission for adults


Tangled Tree Arts Spring Artisan Market

Soaps, wooden decor, paper flowers, pottery, cheesecake, finger puppets — these are just some of the handmade items you'll find at this market, which is back for a fourth year. Everything the 21 vendors sell is handmade, so be sure to swing by and check out the work of Wire Woman Designs, Yarnageddon, Ambrosial Cheesecake Shop and more.

Market Collective

The next three-day Market Collective returns to the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre on the last weekend of April. Expect nearly 80 vendors selling everything from handmade jewellery to paper goods to puzzles.

When: April 27 to 29, 2018

Cost: $5 for the weekend


Acadia Vintage, Retro and Antiques Show

Shop for antiques and collectibles such as jewellery, art, clocks and more at this annual show produced by Antiques By Design. You can also bring along vintage items that you own and participate in the antique identification clinic. There is a $15 fee for each item you get appraised, or you can get three items appraised for $40.

When: April 28 to 29, 2018

Etsy: Made in Canada - Calgary Spring

This is the first time that Etsy: Made in Canada has held a spring market to feature locally made goods. Shop from more than 45 vendors including Friday Sock Co., Illo Leather, Needle & Pine, The Lonely Avocado and more.

When: May 6, 2018

Okotoks Spring Fling

This spring market will have more than 95 vendors selling handmade goods over the course of two days. Skincare products, furniture, baby items and treats are just some of the items you'll be able to buy this weekend. Don't miss the chance to participate in artisan workshops as well.

When: May 11 and 12, 2018
Where: Foothills Centennial Centre, 204 Community Way, Okotoks
Cost: $5 admission


Vintage Redefined Market

During the two-day Vintage Redefined Market, vintage and antique items will be spread out across more than 25,000-square-feet of the Acadia Recreation Centre. Don't miss this chance to shop for collectibles, vintage clothing, comics, furniture and more.

When: May 25 to 26, 2018

Cost: $10 admission on Friday and $4 admission on Saturday

The Alberta Dames Modern Vintage Market

This vintage market will feature more than 60 vendors. For those who work up an appetite while shopping, there will also be several food trucks at the market.

Little Modern Market

Don't miss the spring edition of this modern market. Past vendors have sold everything from jewellery and clothing to home decor and acessories.

Lilac Fest

This one-day street festival has tons to offer the whole family. In addition to children's activities several musical performances, you can shop from more than 500 vendors all along 4 St. S.W.

Vintage With Flair

Head to Bragg Creek to buy handmade and vintage items at this two-day market.
