Evanston, also referred to as Evanston/Creekside, offers an escape from the hubbub of inner-city living. Located halfway between downtown Calgary and Airdrie, the community is easy to access with Stoney Trail nearby. This spacious neighbourhood has several parks, including Evanston Community Park. Complete with a firepit, seating and a community garden, and only a 10-minute walk away from a playground, the park is ideal for people of all ages. Indeed, Evanston is perfect for families with younger children, with three schools in the area and a fourth set to open in fall 2026 (Evanston Heights Middle School). Evanston has two senior living residences — Evanston Grand Village and Evanston Summit — providing great options for older people, and making it easy for different generations to live near one another.

On the way to attractions like Butterfield Acres Petting Farm and with quick access to the mountains via Stoney Trail, Evanston is also near the ample shopping and amenities of Evanston Towne Centre and the Creekside Shopping Centre. —S.C.

Opportunity for Improvement

While Evanston’s roadways and accessibility make it a desirable neighbourhood outside of Calgary’s inner city, residents have expressed safety concerns about certain intersections. Drivers’ safety could be improved by increased traffic lights and four-way stops.
