It seems like just yesterday there were only eight or 10 food trucks driving around the city. In the past year, we have seen the trucks rapidly multiply over the last year and to date, there have been 34 licenses issued with 10 more pending final approval.

Here are 10 of the newer additions to the food truck family that you can find motoring down the road this week.

Aglio e Olio

It’s still a bit hot outside for these offerings, but come fall weather this pasta-centric truck is sure to garner some line-ups. All sauces and most of the pastas are made from scratch. Looking forward to gnocchi in October. (aglioeolio.webs.com, @AglioeOlio_)

Avatara Pizza Truck

With an array of pizzas, there’s a match for everyone here. Specialized diet? You’re in luck. This truck offers gluten-free and vegan options too. (avatarapizza.com, @AvataraTweets)

Curbside Grill

Here you’ll find a selection of burgers, fries, sausages and, last but not least, poutine. Price-wise, you get a decent bang for your buck here. (@curbsidecalgary)

Food Fighter

I couldn’t quite put my finger on what was missing in the food truck scene (well, aside from a mac ‘n cheese truck still), but it just may be these parmigiano sandwiches. Classic Italian in a bun. (@tff_foodtruck)

The Happy Truck

This newer truck has a little bit of everything on the menu. Quesadillas, satays, tacos, sliders and the list goes on. It’s a picky eaters’ delight. (thehappytruck.com, @The_HappyTruck)

Jelly Modern Doughnuts

Yes, the doughnuts that we’ve come to know and love have now hit the streets. Selection varies by day, so consult the daily baking schedule on the Jelly Modern website, or send them a tweet. (jellymoderndoughnuts.com, @jellymodern)

Purple Pastry Chef

The city’s first food truck entirely devoted to sweets. They dish out cupcakes, tarts and an array of other desserts. Look for the purple muppet-esque logo. (purplepastrychef.ca, @monsterchefs)

Snoberry

While the weather is warm and the sun is still shining, head to this truck for an icy, fluffy and refreshing treat topped with anything from fresh fruits to crushed Oreos. (snoberryice.com, @SnoBerryIce)

Soup in a Bun

The name tells all, so there’s not much explaining needed here. A variety of homemade soups served in bread bowls. Again, a bit too hot out to enjoy right now, but should definitely hit the spot when the first layer of frost is upon us. (@soupinabun)

Vasili’s

Look for this bright blue truck with a Pegasus decal and a Greek-inspired menu ranging from grilled pita sandwiches to sliders to salad. Taztiki makes everything taste better, doesn’t it? (vasilis-yyc.com, @vasilisyyc)
