With only a few weeks left until September hits, we should be making the most of our local patios. Here are some different, perfectly tasty seafood dishes to eat over the lunch hour while the sun is shining.
Alloy Tuna Tataki
A great way to start off a meal on this restaurant’s beautiful patio, this spin on tataki is full of flavour. Tuna is rolled in an exotic blend of dry spices and served up with edamame puree, sour cream foam and tomatoes.
Briggs Kitchen and Bar Shrimp Lettuce Wraps
Briggs’ patio may be on the smaller side, but it’s one on the only ones that you’ll find on 10th Avenue S.W. Grab a table with friends and order up some of the tasty sharing plates like shrimp lettuce wraps with Asian-style slaw and sesame sauce.
Charbar Seafood Ceviche
Mixed tableside, the combination of sustainable seafood like prawns and squid tossed with tiger’s milk (the citrus marinade that cures the seafood), red onions, cilantro and cancha (toasted corn) is one of this restaurant’s signature dishes.
Cibo Fresh West Coast Clams
Always a beautiful patio to spend some time eating and drinking, Cibo’s menu has got a lot to offer to everyone. This bowl of clams in a white wine tomato sauce with guanciale is a delicious plate to dive into. Use the ciabatta to soak up all the extra sauce while you wait for your pizza to arrive.
Klein / Harris Baby Shrimp Bake
A generous portion of baby shrimp are served piping hot in a cast iron pot, coated in a spicy chili butter that’s spiked with fresh lemon balm and topped with a salad of baby greens and pickled vegetables. It pairs perfectly with Christina Mah’s signature green caesar made with a vibrant celery and clam broth.
Native Tongues Octopus Salad Tostada
Always busy, busy inside for lunch and dinner, a great option is to use the restaurant’s to-go window to pick up your food and sit outside on the little patio or head to nearby Central Memorial Park. Perfectly cooked chunks of octopus are tossed in a bright dressing along with avocado, cucumber and tomato and served on a crispy tostada base.
