The owners of Carino Bistro at the crest of Edmonton Trail have also brought us Carino Riserva in the old Antonio’s Garlic Clove space on 4th Street S.W. Chef Eisaku Kuboki loves to blur the lines between Japanese and Italian cuisines, offering up dishes you certainly won’t find anywhere else in the city – or in Western Canada, for that matter.
Spaghetti pescatore served in a shallow and robust dashi broth or the fried calamari with yuzu zest are just a couple of examples of how unique the fusion cuisine here can be. If you want to leave it all to Kuboki, do the chef’s tasting menu – at $70, it’s also a fantastic deal. Owner Toshi Karino draws on his former experience as the wine director for Teatro, offering up a well-thought-out wine list that complements the myriad of diverse dishes on the menu at this eclectic spot.
