5 Calgary Events for Foodies

Spring brings a wave of cool events for hungry Calgary diners ranging from a gluten-free expo to a $10 food festival.

YYC Food & Drink Experience

When: March 13 to 29

Set out on a 17-day journey celebrating Calgary’s diverse culinary scene. This year’s edition of YYC Food & Drink Experience features more than 115 participating restaurants — the largest lineup in the festival’s history. Expect multi-course, prix-fixe brunch, lunch and dinner menus. The program also includes 12 chef-led culinary events and special hotel packages for those planning a full weekend around the festival.

Stampede Cellar Uncorked

When: April 11

Part of the Stampede Cellar events, this festival celebrates the best in Canadian and international wine. Guests will be treated to gourmet bites from some of Alberta’s top restaurants and can try the wines that took top honours at the Stampede Cellar Showdown International Wine Competition.

Gluten Free Expo

When: April 19

Whether you’re a seasoned gluten-free shopper or just beginning your journey, the Gluten Free Expo is the place to discover products and brands ranging from food and beverages to beauty and household items. Expect free samples, expert talks and a chance to connect with the gluten-free community.

Feast on Fourth

When: April 22 to 26

“Spend small, taste all” is the guiding principle behind this festival along 4th Street S.W. Each participating venue offers featured dishes priced at $10, making it one of Calgary’s more accessible dining events. Over five days, the strip turns into a global food tour — from Spanish tapas to Korean street food — all within walking distance.

Beerfest

When: May 1 to 2

As warmer days return, so does Beerfest, featuring two evenings of large-scale sampling, live music lounges and DJs. More than 200 breweries and distilleries will be pouring beer, cider and non-alcoholic options, with food vendors on site.
