Every day seems to bring a new offering from a local restaurant as Calgary eateries continue to pivot and find ways to get their menu to diners stuck at home.
One of the latest new options comes from Concorde Group, the local hospitality group whose roster includes Avenue Best Restaurant honourees Bridgette Bar, Lulu Bar, Model Milk and more. The group has launched a new Holiday Hits site that offers menu selections from a number of its different venues, all in one order form.
You can order meal kits or a la carte items and all dishes are ready for pickup at Bridgette Bar between noon and 6 p.m. daily and reheat easily at home. Instructions come on the box and are easy to follow (and are also on the website in case you, like me, manage to lose them somehow).
Meal kits serve two hungry people and include a main and at least one side for between $28 (for the bangers n’ mash) to $70 (for the delicious braised beef short ribs with truffle jus). The a la carte menu includes crowd favourites such as pizza from Bridgette Bar and perogies from Model Milk.
Concorde is also offering a Christmas dinner kit for two available for pickup on December 23 or 24. The package is a three-course meal with a few options including choice of either turkey, ham or short ribs and a choice of four out of eight sides. It might be hard to go back to do-it-yourself turkey in the future after having a Concorde chef-prepared dinner of sticky braised short ribs, bacon and leek stuffing, caramelized Brussels sprouts, brioche dinner rolls and caramelized cauliflower topped off with butter tart pie.
Best of all, and in the spirit of the season, for each dish ordered through Concorde Holiday Hits, the company donates $1 to the Calgary Distress Centre. If you order one of the Christmas dinner kits, $5 will be donated.
