The Alley is one of the newest additions to Calgary’s bubble tea scene. The Taiwan-based chain opened its first Alberta location in Calgary’s Chinatown area in June. Can’t decide what to order? You can’t go wrong with one of The Alley’s popular recommended drinks, which include the Royal No.9 milk tea, Deerioca Fever with tapioca pearls soaked in brown sugar lava and the Apple of My Eye drink.

You can get a bubble tea and a Vietnamese sub all in one spot at Ami Tea & Sub, which opened in early 2019. Along with more than 70 drink options, the shop serves 16 subs with fillings ranging from mixed satay beef and chicken to vegan sausage. Ami Tea often has special deals on drinks and/or food, so be sure to ask about those during your visit.

Taiwanese chain Gong Cha has opened three Calgary locations in less than a year. The newest of those opened in Country Hills in June. Choose from dozens of real fruit teas, milk teas, milk foam drinks, smoothies and more. Then, add an egg waffle to complete your order.

Head to Dragon City Mall to get your hands on a bubble tea from the locally owned Royal Tea House. The shop is open daily and has plenty of seating inside. The menu includes passion fruit green tea, cheese Earl Grey tea, cake milk tea and more.

Sharetea officially opened in the New Horizon Mall in May. There are only four Sharetea locations in Canada and this is the only one outside of Ontario. Plan your visit around the shop’s daily specials, which range from taro milk tea Tuesdays to strawberry ice blended Saturdays.

This Taiwanese chain opened its first Calgary location in the Beacon Hills Shopping Centre in June. Drink options include the store’s namesake Yifang fruit tea, pearl black tea, brown sugar pearl black tea lattes, a winter melon drink and more. And if driving to the northwest end of town is a bit too far for you, don’t worry — Yifang will be opening additional Calgary locations in Crescent Heights and downtown soon.
