Halo

This new eatery specializes in churros, which you can enjoy with ice cream a few different ways. The chulato is essentially an ice cream sandwich with a scoop of Noto gelato between two cinnamon-sugar churros. There are also five flavours of chilled churros, which feature two loop churros with vanilla soft serve and toppings like sweet milk drizzle or brownie chunks. The cafe also has several other churro creations, including sweet and savoury “churro tacos,” churro sandwiches and a variety of drinks.

Milk

This local ice cream company just celebrated the grand opening of its first storefront at the beginning of August. Swing by the Mount Pleasant shop to try flavours like the White Rabbit candy-inspired White Bunny, Viet coffee, Dunkaroos, sea salt Skor, pandan and more on the patio that Milk shares with John’s Breakfast & Lunch.

Pablo

This Japanese bakery, which just opened its first Calgary location, is best known for its cheese tarts, but guests are already raving about the soft serve here as well. Try the strawberry or black sesame flavours either on their own or together in a swirl.

The highlight of Telus Spark’s new cafe (which you can access without paying admission to the science centre) is the astronaut ice cream. The cafe offers soft serve inspired by the solar system with a flavour for each planet, plus a regular vanilla soft serve cone for Pluto. Try flavours like the Uranus cone, which features a honey glazed doughnut to represent the planet’s ring, or Saturn, which comes topped with Fruit Loops, strawberry Pocky and sour peach rings.

Located in Victoria Park, this Korean dessert cafe offers some must-try treats, including shaved ice creations that are perfect for a hot day. Depending on which flavour you choose, the shaved ice features toppings like Oreo crumbles, Korean sugar cookies, mango, cheesecake, watermelon and more. You can also try a croffle, a croissant-meets-waffle creation available in nine flavours, and a variety of drinks.
