What will your mom love more than flowers for Mother’s Day? Cupcakes that look like flowers. Crave has a special Mother’s Day menu on its website right now, which includes these almost-too-pretty-to-eat treats. You can order a single pansy or ranunculus cupcake or a six-pack of both. They’re available May 1 to 10 (Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10) and all orders should be placed at least 24 hours ahead of time.

Calgary’s 1940s-style Galaxie Diner may be one of the cutest all-day breakfast spots in the city and now it’s really upped its cuteness factor with the addition of a storefront takeout window. Galaxie offers delivery through its website and Skip The Dishes but now you can also just walk up, place your order and enjoy it at a safe distance at Connaught Park across the street or at home. We recommend the Galaxie French Toast (available for both takeout and delivery) topped with grilled banana, toasted coconut and maple syrup, and served with sourdough bread and hash browns on the side.

Just in time for patio season, Marda Loop Brewing is doing 20 per cent off all takeout beer every Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. This includes cans, crowlers and growler fills. We recommend the Jenkins Grapefruit Ale — a delicious, year-round five per cent beer that packs a ton of flavour and is extra delicious on a sunny day.

Chili Goma Kit from Shiki Menya

When Shiki Menya announced it was temporarily closing due to the pandemic on March 16, people lost it. When the restaurant announced two weeks later that it would be making DIY chili goma kits, people really lost it. The ramen shop’s most popular bowl is available for delivery only Monday through Wednesday to anyone located within a five km radius of Shiki Menya. The kits go on sale every Saturday at 11 a.m. and sell out quickly. We suggest following Shiki Menya on Instagram and turning on post notifications to stay updated.

If you’re located outside of the five km radius and just can’t go without, Bridgeland Market is also selling the kits for curbside pick-up only. Follow Bridgeland Market on Instagram and turn on post notifications for information on when to order. Each kit makes two bowls so you can savour it for two days straight or share with your isolation buddy.
