Not everyone celebrates Christmas, and some of us who do would much rather dine out than cook over a hot stove. We round-up six restaurants that are open on December 24 and 25. Seasons eatings to all!

December 24

Charcut

Take a pre-dinner stroll down Stephen Avenue on Christmas Eve and make your way past the holiday lights to Charcut Roast House. Tuck into the slow roasted heritage chicken or share the Charcut Board, a selection of house-made meats, with your love.

Open Range

Sink into the cozy chairs and plush banquettes at Open Range. This casual Calgary steakhouse specializes in Alberta beef, lamb and game. Try the Noble Farms duck breast or the bison flank steak.

(1114 Edmonton Tr. N.E., 403-277-3408, open-range.ca)

Vero Bistro Moderne

Pretty Vero Bistro Moderne is another cozy spot to celebrate Christmas Eve in culinary style. Vero sources ingredients from local suppliers and Chef Jenny whips up tasty creations in the kitchen.

(209 10 St. N.W., 403-283-8988, verobistro.ca)

December 25

Delta Bow Valley

Dress up and take your loved ones to the Delta Bow Valley’s Christmas night buffet dinner. With two seatings, 3:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., you can go early and save the evening for holiday movies or go later and linger over dessert.

(209 4 Ave. S.E., 403-205-5436 (for reservations), deltahotels.com)

Thomsons at the Hyatt

The elegant Thomsons restaurant at the Hyatt Regency invites you to relax on Christmas day and let its chefs do the cooking for you. From 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., enjoy a variety of dishes from a traditional holiday buffet.

Barclay’s at the Sheraton Eau Claire

[Editor’s Note: Barclay’s is now Flower and Wolf.]

You can take a snowy walk through Prince’s Island Park before tucking in to the extensive options at the Christmas buffet at Barclay’s at the Sheraton Eau Claire. Find turkey, Alberta beef, seafood and more.
