Many Calgary restaurants are offering special menus or experiences on or around February 14, and some restaurants that are normally closed on Mondays are even opening for dine-in just for Valentine’s Day. So whether you’re hoping to try somewhere new or return to an old favourite, consider checking out the restaurant’s website or calling in advance to learn more about its Valentine’s Day offerings and hours this year.

If you’re looking to dine in-person at a restaurant, there are countless great options all around the city. Ponshu in Arbour Lake is serving a special Valentine’s Day combo from February 12 to 14. For only $65, you’ll get miso soup, salad, sea urchin carbonara, sushi, dessert and more. Meanwhile, over in Mahogany, Chairman’s Steakhouse is also offering a $65 Valentine’s Day menu that features Alberta beef Wellington and chocolate peanut butter flan.

If you live closer to the downtown area, Hawthorn’s three-course Valentine’s dinner menu is available from February 11 to 14, while spots like Donna Mac are offering a “Love at First Bite” three-course dinner menu on February 13 and 14 and new Galentine’s brunch features on February 13.

Many restaurants are offering take-home meals (sometimes in addition to dine-in offerings) that are either ready to be eaten or come with cooking instructions, making it easy to celebrate with restaurant-quality meals at home.

While you can dine at Teatro for Valentine’s Day, the downtown restaurant also relaunched its Teatro at Home program at the beginning of February. From February 11 to 14, you can get a four-course meal kit with cooking instructions featuring dishes like potato gnocchi al forno, braised veal cheeks and chocolate mousse. Deane House is another spot offering both dine-in and takeaway options. Deane House’s Valentine’s Dinner in Your Home is available for pick-up from February 12 to 14 and offers two multi-course dining experiences featuring either beef tenderloin Wellington or troute en papillote.

If you’re craving sushi, Ke Charcoal is offering a 40-piece Valentine’s takeout special from February 11 to 14, while Kinjo Sushi & Grill’s 45-piece Love Platter is available on February 13 and 14 for takeout. Pre-order to ensure you get one.

Great Events Catering has several Valentine’s dinner and brunch options you can pre-order for February 12 to 14, from an east coast lobster kit to honey butter churros French toast.

Takeaway Treats

If you just want a special treat to celebrate Valentine’s Day instead of a whole meal, there are countless bakeries and ice cream shops offering special themed creations on and around Valentine’s Day.

For pastries, you can’t go wrong with the monthly cream puff flavour at Ten Degrees Chocolate, which is a chocolate cherry cream puff featuring a chocolate mousse heart on top. Meanwhile, Inglewood bakery Canela is offering vegan treats like The Love Cake, cupcake boxes, heart cookies, strawberry chocolate Pop-Tarts and more. You can also get themed cupcakes and cookies from February 1 to 14 at Crave’s bakery locations (available for pre-order).

If it’s ice cream you’re craving, Made By Marcus’ heart-shaped Valentine’s Day Cake might be just what you’re looking for with its lychee ice cream, passion fruit mousse, raspberry rose geleé, meringue base and red glaze. And at Abbey’s Creations, items like ice cream cones, milkshakes, ice cream cupcakes, half- and 1.5-litre ice cream tubs and more are buy-one-get-one free from February 12 to 14.
