It may not have dawned on you to get your Valentine’s Day plans in order yet, but the clock is quickly ticking down towards Cupid’s big party and some of the city’s best restaurants are already filling their bookings in anticipation. Whether you’re looking for just the right spot for a romantic evening with your significant other, pre-planning a Singles Awareness Day friend date or getting a group together for dinner on (or around) February 14 for any other reason, here are some great Calgary restaurants offering special menus.
Alforno is a romantic bakery and restaurant located just a few blocks away from the south entrance of the Peace Bridge. For Valentine’s Day, it will offer a $35 three-course menu, half-price bottles of wine and special festive treats in the pasty case.

Once again named one of the best restaurants in Calgary by Avenue last year, Alloy is always a reliable, trustworthy option. This year, treat yourself and your significant other to chef Rogelio Herrera’s six-course menu on February 14. For $85 each, you’ll enjoy cucumber gazpacho, ahi tuna, warm carrot salad, duck confit tortellini, Alberta-NY striploin and chocolate soufflé.To make your night extra special, Alloy also offers $50 floral arrangements — prepared by How Sweet floral designer Catherina Blaker — that can be ready for you when you arrive at the restaurant.

Located in Fish Creek Provincial Park, Bow Valley Ranche Restaurants offers a romantic dining experience away from the downtown crowds. On Valentine’s Day, the five-course tasting menu includes dishes like beetroot goat cheese mousse cannelloni, Alberta wagyu beef tataki, surf and turf for two and raspberry crème brulee. The menu is $89 each and will be available on February 14, 16 and 17.

Skip the bustle of the inner city with an in-the-know four-course dinner at Burwood Distillery. The menu hasn’t been detailed online yet, but chef Matthew Filson-Lau has been known to incorporate ingredients like honey and chocolate into past menus’ themes. Tickets are $120 per couple and include a welcome drink made with spirits produced on site.

For an intimate Italian dinner on Valentine’s Day, make a reservation at La Brezza Ristorante. The Bridgeland restaurant is offering a special four-course menu for $60 each. After starting with bruschetta on focaccia, guests can choose between two salads and three entrees including grilled beef tenderloin, salmon provincial and manicotti. An Italian chocolate mousse finishes off the meal nicely.

Think pink this Valentine’s Day at Calcutta Cricket Club. The creative Bengali restaurant is offering a four-course dinner that runs $65 per person. Reservations available via Resy.

Deane House has two dining options on Valentine’s Day this year. Your first option is the “A Taste of Romance” tasting menu, a five-course dinner with dishes like scallop crudo and bison sirloin. This option runs $100 with the choice to add wine pairings for $50 or non-alcoholic pairings made with Seedlip for $30. You can also opt for the Natural Winemaker’s Dinner with Juice Imports. This five-course menu (TBA) has been designed with the unfiltered flavour of natural wine in mind and costs $150 per person. If you’re waiting until the weekend to celebrate, there will be a la carte options in addition to a three-course menu for $65 per person on Feb. 15 and 16.

The Derrick will offer a special one-night-only tasting menu alongside its usual a la carte options on Valentine’s Day. Treat yourselves to some feature Piper-Heidsieck Champagne, a heritage brand established in 1785 that will also be served at sister establishment Untitled (read on). This is a great option if your ideal Valentine’s date includes an indie movie at the neighbouring Globe Cinema.

This Valentine’s Day, head downtown to The Guild for a meal where you can have fondue for dessert. The restaurant’s special pre-fixe, four-course menu is a great option for couples and friends alike. Enjoy dishes like Beretta Farms beef Wellington, wood-grilled East Coast oysters, smoky deviled eggs, the previously mentioned fondue and more. The menu is $65 per person.

Views of Lake Bonavista and a candle lit space are sure to make The Lake House one of the most romantic restaurants in Calgary this Valentine’s Day. The special four-course dinner menu offered that night includes dishes like scallop Rockefeller, oxtail tortellini, grilled beef tenderloin, Brome Lake duck and more. The menu is $85 each and you can add wine pairings for an additional $55 per person.

Native Tongues is offering perhaps the cheekiest Valentine’s experience in town. Located inside of Hotel Arts Kensington, this restaurant will be serving a four-course menu for $65 per guest on February 14, 15 and 16. You’ll start with cauliflower velouté before enjoying a mushroom risotto and choice between beef tenderloin and rib cap or salmon Oscar. Dessert is a dreamy Earl Grey chocolate cake and wine pairings may be added for $30 per guest.

Enjoy a Valentine’s menu featuring Raw Bar’s modern Vietnamese cuisine on February 14, 15 or 16. For only $50 each, you and your loved one can treat yourselves to three courses: your choice of crab and avocado salad or tea-smoked duck breast carpaccio, followed by pan-seared salmon or coconut curry-braised short rib and a lemon and passionfruit tart for dessert. Raw Bar is also known for its cocktails and will have two signature creations available as an optional pairing.

The Selkirk Grille at Heritage Park evokes the atmosphere of a bygone era through its vintage decor, providing a classic setting for any Valentine’s Day dinner. There are three different romantic options available during the week of Valentine’s: a three-course menu followed by a screening of Roman Holiday for $44 per person on February 12, a four-course menu created by executive chef Leighton Smyth for $69.95 per person on February 14 or a beef tenderloin dinner on February 15 and 16 for $70 per couple.

Try kicking your Valentine’s Day up a notch with Two Penny’s 10-day Chinese New Year Celebration running Feb. 5 to 15. A special banquet menu is priced at $45 per person. Ask your server about tea or cocktail pairings. You can also keep the evening going with a comedy show downstairs at Tea House, where comedian Jebb Fink will be performing at both 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on February 14. Advance tickets are recommended.
Nothing says celebration quite like Champagne. Toast to your love (or glamorously drown your sorrows) at Untitled with enjoying live music by a jazz duo. A “Cinq à sept” happy hour program will be offered all night, including 20 per cent off bottles and select three for $30 food items. The night’s feature food item is a tri tip steak and Piper-Heidsieck Champagne is recommended for pairing.

If you’re looking for a cozy, casual spot for your Valentine’s Day meal, Vendome Cafe is just the thing. Treat yourself and your significant other to a three-course dinner for $55 each. The meal also comes with wine pairings. Perfect for those with busy schedules, this special menu will be offered from February 14 and 15, with live music on stage on the 14th. Vin Room’s two location will each be serving a three-course, $35 Valentine’s Day menu. In Mission, start with puff pastry baked brie, enjoy Angus ribeye for your main and finish off with cream puff cones. If you’re heading to Vin Room West, expect a Caprese salad to start, pick between a New York steak or seafood linguini for your main and finish off with New York cheesecake or creme brûlée. These deals are available Feb. 14 to 16.

At Yellow Door Bistro in Hotel Arts, a special four-course Valentine’s Day menu will be available for $65 per person on Feb. 14, 15 and 16. Created by Yellow Door’s chef de cuisine Scott Redekopp, the special menu will offer everything from scallops and foie gras to strawberry and white chocolate mousse. For $30 each, you can also get wine pairings added to your dinner experience.
