The 2026 Olympic Winter Games are upon us, and although they may be taking place in Italy, you can still celebrate right here in Calgary until the games end on February 22, 2026. And of course, the competition and festivities continue with the Paralympic Games, which run from March 6 to 15, 2026.

As the host of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, Calgary has a special connection to the Olympics. There were even talks to put in a bid to host the 2026 Winter Olympics.

So naturally, there are plenty of events happening throughout the city where you can cheer on your favourite athletes, including many who train and/or live in Calgary. Many bars and restaurants are offering drink and food specials and some have extended hours for select events.

Here are some of the ways you can celebrate the 2026 Olympics and Paralympics in Calgary.

Go to Team Canada FanFest 2026 at WinSport

On February 14 and 15, WinSport Event Centre is hosting Team Canada FanFest, a free event with live competition viewings from Italy and appearances from Team Canada athletes. There will also be winter sport demonstrations and public skating.

At the same time, WinSport is also hosting Pinfest, a pin trading, buying and selling event. During the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, pin trading became a huge phenomenon, sometimes with thousands of people attending trade shows, and Pinfest celebrates that legacy.

Enjoy drink specials and Olympic ’88 decorations at Eighty-Eight Brewing Co.

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy the Olympic atmosphere, Eighty-Eight Brewing Co. is one of the spots to do it — the brewery’s name and overall concept celebrates Calgary’s ‘88 Olympics legacy. Throughout the Olympic and Paralympic games, the brewery will be decorated in 1988 Olympics decorations and will have $5 drink specials every time Canada wins a medal (a different beer goes on special for gold, silver and bronze).

Try Olympics-themed drinks at Fenyk Coffee

This local coffee shop is offering two new hot chocolate creations with an Olympics theme. The Olympic Maple Hot Chocolate, available until the end of the Olympic events and created in collaboration with local Team Canada speed skater Anders Johnson, has hints of maple and is topped with a maple whipped cream and graham crackers. A portion of each hot chocolate proceeds will be donated to CAN Fund to help support aspiring Canadian Olympians.

The second drink, created for YYC Hot Chocolate Fest, is a hot chocolate inspired by the film Cool Runnings and the Jamaican bobsled team. It’s made with a coconut and chocolate base and is topped with banana whipped cream and sprinkles in the colours of the Jamaican flag.
