There are plenty of holiday light displays set up in Calgary this month, but one of the best might just be the Christmas Light Drive-Through at Spruce Meadows. On weekends from December 9 to January 1, the renowned equestrian facility will be decked out in colourful, twinkling holiday lights that you can check out for free while staying warm in your car. As you drive, turn on 87.9 FM to add some holiday music to your viewing. Guests can also park and venture out on the marked paths on foot if they prefer. The lights are available for viewing in the days leading up to Christmas (though not Christmas Day itself) as well as New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Once you’re done taking in the lights, head to the concession tent in Founders Plaza for a snack, with options such as Bavarian pretzels with cheese dip, Hungarian goulash with a rustic roll, warm candied roasted almonds or an apple cranberry strudel. You can also stay warm with drinks like salted caramel hot chocolate or eggnog with spiced rum. Enjoy these treats back in your car or around one of the lit fire pits on the property.

Spruce Meadows’ Christmas Light Drive-Through runs from December 9 to 11, 16 to 18, 22 to 24 and December 30 to January 1 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information on where to enter the drive-through, visit sprucemeadows.com
