Life Chronicles

When: On now until August 31

If you loved the Horizon of Khufu virtual reality experience at CF Chinook Centre this past winter, then don’t miss the new Life Chronicles show. This new 45-minute virtual reality experience explores the planet’s evolution over geological periods, featuring dinosaurs, marine reptiles and more.

Washed Ashore

When: On now until September 14

This summer, see debris from Pacific Ocean beaches turned into incredible pieces of art at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo. Washed Ashore is a new exhibit featuring 15 marine wildlife-themed sculptures peppered around the zoo facilities, and they’re all made out of beach debris. There’s even a handy map to help you find all 15 sculptures.

Fairy Tales Queer Art & Film Festival

When: June 12 to 15

Back for its 27th year, the Fairy Tales Queer Art & Film Festival, Alberta’s longest-running queer film festival, returns with nearly two dozen short and feature films. This year’s festival will also feature a market and art exhibition.

Calgary Horrorcon XIII

When: June 14 to 15

If you’re a fan of all things horror, don’t miss Calgary Horrorcon XIII. The two-day event features celebrity guests, screenings of the latest indie horror films, Q&A panels on iconic horror films and more than 100 vendors selling horror-themed goods. You’ll also want to don your scariest, goriest or most terrifying outfit and participate in the costume competition on the last day.
