Food: Classic French bistro.
Vibe: Sophisticated, yet homey.
Order this: Literally called the “Signature Dish,” chef Moussu’s Alberta beef tenderloin is topped with bone marrow and a foie gras ravioli.
Know this: Cassis regularly holds special dinners so Moussu can exercise his creative muscle.
Average Price: $41 per entree.

After closing Le Petit Boeuf and Suzette Bistro restaurants last year, the team behind Cassis Bistro took the opportunity to focus on its flagship restaurant and the results have been wonderful. Co-owners Gilles and Andrea Brassart and Dominique Moussu (who also happens to be one of the most skilled chefs in the city) take great pains to offer guests an authentically French experience through a selection of exquisitely prepared dishes. From the famed beef tartare with duck-fat chips to the ever-changing plat du jour, this is food made from the heart, transporting the diner to the relaxed beauty of the French countryside with every bite.
