As a student, Alishau Diebold pursued legal studies to support people affected by violence, trauma and other forms of harm, with a focus on preventative approaches and restorative justice. Once in the legal field, she discovered that she loved working directly with people. So she moved into social work, providing counselling rooted in trauma-informed care to more than 650 people transitioning back into the community after incarceration.
In 2025, Diebold joined Mount Royal University. She equips undergraduate students entering front-line careers in health care, justice and community services for real-world challenges through experiential activities and applied, simulation-based learning.
“I want my students to have strong ethical and practical skills so they can work with people from diverse backgrounds with an open mind and an open heart,” she says.
