In Calgary, succeeding in land services for oil and gas companies means setting the bar high and going far beyond simply securing land or mineral rights, as depicted on shows like Landman.
Through their roles at Aim Land Services, Devin Fisher and Gabrielle Leakey have helped uphold Calgary’s position as a leading centre for energy and infrastructure development while ensuring projects are done responsibly, meeting environmental, regulatory and community requirements.
Fisher joined Aim as a land agent when the company was founded in 2011 with a handful of employees while Leakey joined in 2016 as a land administrator. In 2025, they were promoted to president and vice-president, respectively. They have continued Aim’s growth to 250-plus employees, servicing industries such as mining, utilities, renewable energy, and oil and gas; expanded its operations across the country; and integrated an environmental consulting firm.
Aim also incorporates environmental and mapping services, Indigenous consultation and end-of-life-cycle services for oil and gas infrastructure.
“It’s a big part of what we do, supporting these large energy projects as they follow proper regulatory components in a responsible and ethical way,” Leakey says.
Adds Fisher: “We bring together landowners, communities, Indigenous groups, regulators, environmental considerations and our clients so projects can move forward in a way that respects the people and places they affect.”
